Even More About RSS
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is an XML-based format for distributing content. What does that mean?
RSS allows publishers the ability to post summaries of recently published or updated content, commonly called feeds. Interested readers can subscribe to these feeds through their favorite news/feed readers. Your feed reader will automatically scan your feeds delivering your news without having to visit each website.
What are some examples of feed readers? Microsoft Outlook, Google Reader, Internet Explorer, My Yahoo!, My AOL, etc. We recommend using one or all of the following three feed readers:
- Microsoft Outlook - easy to setup and use with Microsoft Outlook (instructions)
- Internet Explorer - also very easy to setup and use. (instructions)
- Google Reader - also a great feed reader. The advantage here is that you can logon from any computer to read your news. (link)
