"You are no doubt right about the power consumption of really large CRT sets and that is probably the reason they are not widely available if at all. The reference to the 30 inch CRT came from the California Energy Commission, however according to Power innovations, the largest CRT made is 27 inches. The California .23 watt per inch figure, however, makes it pretty clear that the CRT is still the most efficient display."    View Comment

"I was an FDIC claims agent a number of years ago but have never encountered this particular question. If I understand what you are asking, the interest on the CD, allowed to accrue, would become part of the FDIC insured deposit should the bank fail (as long as the principal and interest were under the insurance limit.) If the bank, while it was still open, chose to lower the interest rate as they can do with impunity on a savings account this would have nothing to do with FDIC. There are, however..."    View Post
