"Kumar, There is no best day of the week for locking a rate. Interest rates will change daily, sometimes twice per day. You should lock on the day that has the rate you are happy with. Trying to time the best or bottom of the rate cycle is at best a guess and not a sicence. Decide on a rate that makes you the happiest and lock when it is available. "Generally a mortgage can not be pre paid? Dose your payment coupon show next due 2017? Any extra payment amount you have made should be going to the principle not towards next months payments. You need to contact your lender for a detailed accounting of your payments (payment history).
