"Andrew, what a great question. I wish I or anyone on this site had an ironclad answer to it because I would certainly like to hear it. Being a sales minded individual, I think I would have to consider the scencario on a case by case basis. Personally, I would evalute the source of the business the LO produced, and if I thought I could pick up some of the business if they were not with me, that would weigh heavily on my decision. "The truth is, Corky, Rob and Andrew all have made good points. It is a great idea to look at each LO's production and costs individually. Even a top producer can be more efficient in certain areas thereby increasing the efficiency of the process as a whole. By far one of the topics we talk about when considering training a new LO is retention. The thought of training my future competition eats me alive, but its the nature of the beast!"    View Comment

"What does everyone think about these new appraisal management companies that are required by Chase and Fifth Third? It looks like this is the wave of the future in the wholesale/broker business. The appraisals cost more and you won't find out if there are any value issues until the fee is paid and the appraisal is complete - so much for getting an idea of value from the appraiser prior to spending the clients time and money.
