My Husband is the borrower of the loan for our house. I am on the deed but not the loan. He passed away and I cant make the payments. Am I anyway responsible?

First let me say that I am so sorry for your loss. I would recommend that you seek out advice from a competent probate attorney to determine your options. Generally speaking a property owner is not responsible for any note they did not sign. But that doesn't mean the lender may not be able to foreclose on the property and take the property from the current owner.

If there is any equity in the property and you are over 62 years in age you may be able to get a reverse mortgage which would allow you to stay in your home. You do not have to have good credit, a good mortgage payment history or any income to qualify.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your Husband.

I would first find out if he had any mortgage protection insurance.  I always sell this product along with the mortgage  to help families in their hour of need.

I would also  find out if he had some insurance at work.
