I wanted to thank Marc for taking some time out of his day this morning to personally call me.  He was far more professional on the phone than his original post would have suggested.

While I don't think we see eye to eye on many issues and concerns, I could tell that he was passionate about protecting our industry.  Even though he said he doesn't necessarily have time to post on many blogs, I do hope that he will provide us with some more information that from his perspective.  Knowledge is potential power and I am all for open passionate debates that help us arrive at the truth.

I don't doubt he's passionate about defending our industry, he wouldn't have responded the way he did unless he was dedicated. I wish it was handled differently (myself as well) but it's good to have open debate.

Concerning the "union dues" you pay, the NAMB portion of your total dues (state and national), works out to .33 a day!!

Not that it's a huge deal but the cost of our State associate (which makes us a member of NAMB) is $350. Which is a little less than a dollar a day not .33 cents. Just FYI for anyone looking to join.

And just so I'm clear, I'm not saying don't join, just clarifying a previous post.

I agree.  This forum would be a great place to share information and possibly even change the perceptions of many brokers.  I think that bringing the issues and plans to deal with with them to this forum can only benefit everyone.  There is a lot of experience and influential people here who take great pride in our profession.  I hope we can all come to some common ground and make our voices heard.

I am a member and have been for years. Good to see you here. I can only speak for myself when I say that the most I can do in today's market is be a member and rely on NAMB and OAMB to fight for me. It is hard enough to survive. I have been a PAC member for years. I will say that it was disappointing to get assessed a "onetime fee" for membership and also disappointing to see the increase in membership dues this year when it is already hard enough to continue to participate. But NAMB and my state affiliate are the only ones fighting for me and what I love to do.  NAMB is like family, I don't always like you but I need you.

Just so you know I and many other OWNER Mortgage Broker Shops know what you NAMB Denise Leonard and such are doing for what I LOVE-- The Mortgage Broker  Business and I hope to have my children to take part in my business some day as it has been rewarding and a critical role in our economy for over 25 years.

The Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System has been designed to streamline the licensing process, improve supervision and increase transparency in the mortgage industry. NMLS contains a single record for each mortgage lender, broker, branch and loan originator. This single record can be used to apply for, amend and renew licenses in any participating jurisdiction.

The true benefit of the nationwide system is regulation of all originators.  Most states currently register/license mortgage brokers but no one else.  A level playing field would be a major victory to clean up the industry.

Just because someone works at a direct lender or bank doesn't make the competent and honest. Seems like common sense.

It is somewhat disapointing that Marc has stopped commenting. I would have hoped to hear more from him.

And where do you think those originators that couldn't pass the background checks have gone?  If they didn't leave the industry, they ended up at a direct lender or bank.

Yes, all Banks and Direct Lenders do background checks.  I have worked for both. 

Applies the same minimum licensing and registration standards for mortgage brokers, loan officers, mortgage banker loan originators, financial services companies and agents, and depository institution loan officers when defining a loan originator.

As this excellent ruling is for anyone who originates a mortgage equally.

All rulings for anyone who originates a mortgage should treat all who originate equally.

As noted below:

And a MARI should be done on each LO as well to see if they are in the data base.

I am not in your industry, nor do I know you, or ever care to know you.  But I felt I needed to reply to this.

before you come on any blog and post your incessant diatribe, you may want to review what your job description is as 'president'

NAMB, know nothing about them, but any organization needs to grow to get their objectives done.  Your behaviour is not only

a detriment to your industry, but it also humors me.  Marc, with all due respect, you may want to take a course in ' winning people

I appreciate you coming to the site and speaking on behalf of your organization. I hope you come back and add more to the discussion.

At the same time, I'm suprised that this is how you make your introduction to a website and a service designed by, paid for, and consisting of loan originatiors who care about the fate of our industry and are working to not only save it but change it for the better.

Passion can breed thoughts and words that aren't representative of the source, and I'm hoping this is the case here.

Your leadership and voice are welcome here and the efforts you've made on our collective behalf probably doesn't get all the notice or accolades they deserve. But insulting members of your own team out of the gate is shocking and misplaced.
