Boy did I make a mistake or what

Last year many of you know that the Real Estate office I worked out of caught fire.  I lost my internal realtor contacts and had to find business elsewhere. Since I no longer had a brick and mortor office to work out of I gave up my independence with Apex Lending Inc and joined another mortgage broker office.  I made the move because the broker promised to provide leads around the country and they were with a lender that is licensed in 48 states and could do FHA.

Well the leads were garbage, all I was given was $75,000 to $100,000 leads with the exception of a couple.  Leads were terrible with all kind of credit issues. I have been able to close a few here and there over the last 7 months.  Late Dec the manager/broker told me that since the leads were not that good so she could not share anymore I would be placed as an outside sales associate. Since then I have been courting local real estate offices, and I have a few deals in the works; just waiting on signed contracts.  If I really wanted to go out and beat down Real Estate offices I would have done it last year when I lost my place of Biz due to the fire. You have to do what you have to do, I am getting tired of walking in an office to drop off some flyers that I made only to get an attitude from the Realtors, maybe with time they will change.

I also have a number of other issues with the Broker/manager that I will not discuss on any forum.

This is a perfect example of the saying" The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence".

I am not really sure which direction I am going to go, I love this business and I am very knowledgible, but I also have to make a living.

I guess I am just venting a little

Sorry to hear that Mark...hopefully you will be able to pick up some of those real estate agents and get your business built back up.

    Mark,

It happens to all of us, but I am sure that with renewed focus on building your business, things will get better soon!  Hang in there and concentrate on selling your biggest asset; yourself!

I know the one guy was upside down, did that other one I sent you for the purchase work out?

I agree with Hammer.  Don't stay where you are not happy.  Leads (good leads) are hard to come by right now.  Networking like you are doing is the best way to go, but you need to find a home to put your loans that appreciate your experience and your loans.

Hey Mark! You know that the door here is always open for you. We're doing many new & exciting things here at Apex Lending, Inc and you don't necessarily need to have 'brick & mortor' We're staying busy with FHA as well as Loan Mods and we'd love to do business again with you. Keep us in mind. Big Smile

I guess I'm at a loss for where your business went. The building burned down but unless your clients and realtors were in the building when it went up shouldn't you still have those contacts? Did I miss what happened?

And yes, now is a great time to get out and find a new place. Don't wait until you have full pipelines and are forever stuck.

Ok Clem, which is worse: having an Ikea ad video at the ready or putting Mark's clients in the fire?

I agree find somewhere you enjoy.  I made a move out of a broker office in June 2007 because it was well, unethical.  I settled for a Real Estate office set up but the funding parent company wasn't great and Realtors all knew it and my volume decreased.  I since found a community bank and it has been the best move for me!  I work direct with the secondary market, flexibility, credibility and I love my job again.  My numbers are increase back to when I was happy!

    Mark,

I shot you an email with the name and number of a customer from Virginia that called me today.  Did you get that?

I didn't have time to return the call but gave you the basic info he left on my VM.  Let me know if you need me to resend it...

Well that sucks. BofA is aggressive in that area, though funny that their friend I did a few years ago worked at BofA and I still got the deal lol. From what it sounded like her managers/people there were actually mad she didn't go with her "employer". Let me tell you, getting a VOD from them for an employee whose getting a mortgage somewhere else is a pain in the ass lol.

Yeah Ihave done loans for folks who work at banks before.  They allgave me the same reason;  They did not want either there supervisor or co-workers to knoe anything about there financial situation.

Says a lot about how much they trust their supervisors...
