Hey friends

I introduced an overseas buyer to buy a property in Australia and asked for a referral fee from the real estate agent. The real estate agent told me and the buyer that it is illegal in Australia for a real estate agent to pay such a fee to a person who is not a real estate agent.

Does anybody have any idea and knowledge please help me.

I don't know if it is true in Australia but it's true in the US.

Here in CA, referral fees can only be paid to licensed Broker to Broker as licensed by the Department of Real Estate.

I do not well about this in Australia but its true in USA. Before buying any property or home, its necessary to find the real estate agent who can give you expert advice and valuable information. Be careful when choosing them, because i have heard about some fraud agents. You should go with your friends, relatives and family recommendations.
