It does not seem to be working.  I just answered a Wiki question but was not able to edit the spelling using the spell check button.  Went to word, did it there and then copyed it back to my Wiki answer.

Yes, we are working on a solution to this spell check problem.  Currently the spell check should tell you what is spelled wrong by underlining it in red.  The problem is that the 'suggested spellings' are not working.

So the best bet for now is to do exactly what you did. Paste it into word and bring it back, if you're unsure of spelling.  If you paste from MS Word, make sure to use the 'Paste from Word' button.  It is the clipboard with the MS Word 'W' on it.   This will clean up some of the trash that word puts in the copied text.
