We are interested in a construction loan where we own the lot valued at $250,000 but we paid $195,000. The house will cost $540,000. We will sell our current home valued at $250,000. We owe $105,000 on this home. Now we are told that we must sell current home first. We owe $175,000 on lot & $105,000 on house.Good credit score.

RE:Mortgage Rates Eased By Weakening Housing Demand

I agree with Irv...i was in the auto business for fifteen years , and i am familiar with the buying habits of our society....payment buying is the norm...i saw this problem coming early on...my opinion is the feds lowered the rate too low for too long....resulting in cheap payments for big houses without thought of the big picture , or the future...rates will have to come down around 5.75 - 6.0 to make any kind of difference in our current economy...the feds really need to baby-sit this issue

RE:Mortgage Rates Eased By Weakening Housing Demand

As a mortgage Broker, I see a major fall out in the industry including realestate this will lead into major economy disaster
shortly. I believe the major mortgage players has to revise there program and start offering for those people with good credit score. I don't know how but the government has to get involved and help. AHM(ABC) fallout has created a vacume that is creating a panic in the industry and and what I see and here is not good. Media has to play a positive role in this matter.

RE:Mortgage Rates Eased By Weakening Housing Demand

Housing prices will just continue to fall unless credit loosens up and interest rates drop.
