I think this is the key. I was talking with a US Bank exec and told him I am constantly looking to blame myself, to find what I've done wrong - The logic is simple, I can then fix it. We empower others when we blame and they just don't have that power. I think so many "positive" people are the problem because it is false in that they are either afraid or unwilling to look at things rationally - Don't get me wrong a positive attitude is key but I am a fixer, so I will look at something broken and say Eureka! I find the positives in fixing what is negative and not ignoring the problems we face or pushing bad consequence on others

re: To be Frank: Cowards Do That, And That Ain't You

Yes, we veterans don't blame - we press on. We deal with what we are dealt, we provide the best of what is available. But we must also fight for what is right - and what is wrong - in regulating our industry. I'm glad to see you are finding that equilibrium.

re: To be Frank: Cowards Do That, And That Ain't You

Yes, ending the blame game is a personal choice and relates to a moment to moment change in the way one thinks. If your personal philosophy revolves around service as it's core than than it's easier to have a good attitude about what has happened and what is to come, Sure, the learning curve and curveballs has been constant. I am making up some G rated metaphors for the additional disclosures and my clients are quite cooperative. How about the technological and software learning curve on top of all the other changes, eh? Es todo bueno mi amigo. Keep fightin the good fight and save those people some interest expense.

re: Cowards Do That, And That Ain't You

Nice post Frank. Ending the blame game is the first step toward tackling polarized perceptions of political reality. If we cannot productively find middle ground, nothing will ever get done and our country will continue to stagnate.
