There are a number of non-profit loan modification services such as Hope Now which you can find on the internet. These non-profits are subsidized by small government grants and by the banks themselves, so keep in mind who they are representing. The non-profits can be excellent sources of information; however, not always the best source for getting what is best for the consumer. The bank on your mortgage statement or the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development can provide you with more information.
