Can both husband and wife use their credit as one to get a mortgage loan?
Yes, in fact most married borrowers apply for joint mortgages together. The biggest reason to do so is that lenders only count income from loan applicants. If both parties work (and both incomes are needed for the loan) both need to be on the loan. There are cases where one spouse's credit scores are too low, there are judgments against one spouse, or one has previously declared bankruptcy, and in those cases it may be better to not jointly apply.
