I readily admit to being a "high maintenance" customer when it comes to financial decisions, needing to ask questions and staying actively involved. With this in mind, I was careful to find a mortgage planner who would be (i) very knowledgeable and (ii) patient. Ted is a regular contributor to MortgageNewsDaily, a premier site for daily market analysis as it relates to mortgage rates, and through my review of the site over several weeks I found Ted to have a knack for reading the market quite well and, what's more, being able to explain his insights in an easy-to-understand way. Noticing this, I asked Ted to help me with my refinance and I am sure glad I did. From beginning to end, Ted was communicative and helpful and made sure to accommodate my inquisitive nature by providing me with technical analysis and all the detail I asked for, all in a way that never felt condescending or rushed, despite the need for certain concepts to be repeated. Though he has a very busy schedule - due in no small part to his obvious expertise - I felt like I was his only customer. And this is despite him being several states away (as a mortgage "correspondent", essentially higher up on the mortgage lending chain than an average loan officer, Ted is able to write mortgages anywhere in the United States). As an example of the direct benefit of Ted's expertise, Ted early on suggested that I get all of my paperwork to him as soon as I could so that I'd be able to pounce when the right opportunity came along, especially since he had sensed the market was trending downward based on political instability abroad and its anticipated effects on the domestic bond market (which directly correlates to mortgage rates). And exactly as he predicted, the market soon dipped - to its lowest point this year - and because of our preparation, I was able to confidently lock with a relatively short lock period, knowing that much of the heavy-lifting document-wise had already been done - that alone saved me hundreds of dollars. I'm certain that if I had gone with someone less organized and less-informed I would have missed that sliver of an opportunity - the significant dip lasted only one day! - and would still be praying for the rates to come down again. As cliched as it may sound, if you are looking for a smart, personable, honest and capable mortgage planner, Ted is your man.

Ted was great to work with. I contacted him when I was just thinking about buying a house. He went over my credit scores, which I needed to raise. He told me exactly what to do to get those up fast. Once they were up, we got the ball rolling and had everything we needed together in a very timely manor. He really knows his stuff, and helped me the whole way through the process. From getting my credit to where it needed to be, to being available at any time of day to answer my (many) questions. He was always prompt with his replies, and always had an answer for me. I have already recommended him to a friend and will continue to do so! He really was a pleasure to work with and I plan on using him in the future!

“I had a "WOW" experience with Ted and his team”
Ted helped us with refinancing our primary residence and an investment property, taking advantage of the record low rates available in early 2013. There were multiple transactions, he's in the Mid-West and I'm on the East Coast, I disputed the appraisal - nothing threw him. He and his team worked really well with my title company here locally with no problem whatsoever. Communication was constant with us during the process even adapting to my e-mail or phone communication preference based on my schedule. He managed to extend our rate lock for a few days, even though rates had risen by 3/8 of a point from our lock. As with any re-fi, it should be that the quicker you are with providing information, the quicker you'll close. Definately the case here. No hesitation with this recommendation - if you're dong a re-fi, just use him for it.
