Interest rates had their worst week on record, but what does that mean for the mortgage industry and broader housing market? Historically, housing has been the only reliable value-creator in America, and that fact is more evident now than ever.

Employment History
Loan Originator, Prospect Mortgage
Privately Held;500 + employees;Mortgage
October 2010 - April 2012 (1 Year 6 Months)
Twenty candidates from all over the country including myself were recruited by Prospect Mortgage to participate in an extensive training program for new loan officers at their headquarters in Sherman Oaks, CA. The training took place over several weeks and focused on developing world-class loan originators. Each day a new guest speaker was asked to provide some industry insight and advice to the class. Notable guest speakers included those such as CEO Ron Bergum, CPO Todd Duncan, Exec Chairman Mark Filler, top originator Brian Minkow, John Manglardi and several others. The purpose was to breed a group of smart, well-trained, hungry loan officers to lead the company forward in the new lending environment. All topics on the licensing exams were covered including compliance, pricing, loan programs, program guidelines, credit analysis, income analysis, etc. However, the training also covered best practices, goal-setting, selling, marketing, prospecting, business planning, referral partnerships, and real-life advice from those mentioned above. The experience provided an excellent foundation and excellent start to a promising career as a mortgage loan originator.
Loan Officer, South Pacific Financial Corp
Privately Held;251-500 employees;Mortgage
May 2012 - July 2013 (1 Year 1 Months)
Rather than trying to be a loan officer in a new city I first began my work at SPFC as a processing assistant in the Irvine office. Not only did it give me some time to acclimate to my new surroundings it was meant to give me a look at the industry from the operations perspective. As my experience was limited to sales this was an incredibly productive learning experience, but in a world of 20+ year veterans a little insight into operations wasn't going to offer much of an advantage. After several months I was asked to work in the consumer direct internet division later named SP Direct Lending. Within 2 months I had joined the leadboards and even ranked in the #1 spot in the entire company on a few occassions. In the first 6 months I have funded over 50 loans including both refinance and purchase loans, under VA, FHA, Conventional, DU Refi Plus, Jumbo, and investment loan programs. The next step is for me is to continue in my role with SPFC at SP Direct, but slowly begin to expand by partnering with local Realtors to attract purchase loan referrals.

San Diego State University - San Diego, CA
Business Administration/Management-Entrepreneurship
I graduated from SDSU's nationally top-ranking Business Administration program with a degree in Business Management and an emphasis in Entrepreneurship. I maintained an excellent GPA throughout but I most enjoyed finance, economics, marketing, leadership, and statistical analysis; which led me to excel in courses like business planning, international entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, leadership in organizations, corporate finance, accounting, statistical analysis, marketing, and rhetorical studies. In my graduating class only about a dozen or so highschool seniors were destined for college, and only about 25% of freshman with whom I started with that first year made it to graduation. I consider myself extremely blessed to have had attended this amazing institution of higher-learning, and time at SDSU was hands down the most transformative experience of my life.
