    refinance nightmare with gmac

I recently tried to refinance my home, currently valued at 162,000 with 108,000 left on the mortgage.  Credit score of 770.  My mortgage was originally with GMAC and so I refinanced with them as well.  It took the gmac 5 months to make a decision.  During that time, they constantly requested me to resubmit materials as they had became too out of date as the months went on.  As an example, my pay stubs had to be resubmitted 3 times over the course of the time.  This happened for virtually every piece of material I provided them, which were up to date at the time of submission.  In the mean time, my identity was stollen and dropped my credit score to 630, which resulted in them rejecting the refinance.  Is there any legal recourse for this?  Was this delay due to the fact that the mortgage was with the same company refinancing?
