FHA loan military occupancy issue
My wife is active duty army, stationed in Texas. We are looking to buy a house in Michigan through FHA. She would be the one on the mortgage. I would move into the house with our son upon close and she would be staying in Texas through her contract (which includes a deployment this winter) FHA guidlines say that an active duty soldier can be owner occupant on a house as long as a direct family member is living in the house.
So my question is this, why is this scaring off every Mortgage company I speak with? I have ties to the community, potential jobs contingent upon me moving up there, and family in the area.
I am not going on the loan because I stay at home with our son, and work part time, I have student loans that when put into the equation would make it more difficult to get approved.
