GEORGE BUSH AND THE CAPITAL MARKETS....

Or should I say "Curious George..."

    Good, Bad, indifferent?

Those who know me know I am very politically conservative in some classic ways and very liberal in others.  But mostly a pragmatic and "down the middle kind of guy.  I don't follow politics much except as it relates to mortgages (which means I've had to follow things a lot more recently).

With all the focus on McBama recently, what do we think about dubya?

Me?  I don't think I'm qualified to comment on his policies or their efficacy.  All I know is that if I make the acqaintance of someone that strikes me as having a similar level of intelligence to him, I usually try to prevent the friendship from developing from that point on.  So, since I would really prefer not to have someone in charge who does not strike me as smart enough to be my friend, I'm fairly negative on this guy.  In fact, I think he might have a learning disability.  But again, I don't know anything about his politics, just that he's really really dumb.

Didn't like his dad much and I totally dislike "W"...I am not big into politics but listening to him is terrible, he never seems to know what he is talking about even after his speeches are wrote for him.  Confused???  I believe he is and should of never been elected the first time let alone being re-elected!!

Most people I talk with feel he sold the average person down the river... Yes, our economy may have sounded strong during his rule, but it was only the extremly rich that made good.  We've lost rights during his presidency, we've lost international relationships, we've lost international confidence, we lost a surplus from the previous president... The list goes on and on.  What about his administration?  Some old members can't travel internationally because supposedly they will be prosecuted for war crimes (Rumsfeld).  Some still have subpoenas out on them, and they don't answers.. Harriet Miers, Carl Rove.   And to top it all off, the Vice President, that answers to no law..  Cheney.  He should have a different thread on his own!

I LOVE the Play by Play. Post-monger. Shameless attempt to bump your thread? Your points total? Your post count? Regardless, your initial post was hilarious. Had to call several co-workers 'round to read it.

I don't think Bush is making the important talks nowadays. When Paulson and his $700b checkbook step to the podium my ears perk up. Meanwhile, when a lame duck president who no one listened to for the last 2 years steps up, I go comment on whether or not I think you can golf.

I think it's important for a President to have charisma and strong speaking skills in addition to above average intellect.  I don't see any of these qualities in him.  He once boasted that a "C" student can become president, but look at the results.

You think his advisors would send him to a communications classor bring in someone to work with him on adressing the public. That might make a good use of TARP money. Too late now I suppose.

I think our whole system needs an overhaul. I mean even when I hear majority of these "financial gurus" talk all I can think is what a dumbass. I can think of classes back in college where students would put these guys in their place, thats just sad seeing all the morons running this country as a whole.

Sadly, the best candidates never survive till the end.  At least not for the past 24 years.  Jack Kemp, Bill Richardson, Mitt Romney, Bill Bradley, etc.  So we are left with 2 poor choices.  I turn the station when Bush comes on.  Same thing I did with Clinton.  In fact, if you read "The Agenda" by Bob Woodward, there is a quote from Clinton that sums things up. "You mean we are at the mercy of a bunch of f****** bond traders?" Greenspan is still skating away mostly unscathed in all of this.  What would have happened had there NOT been a hastily put together 'plan' in the 40 days prior to the election that would have been any worse?  Bush may or may not be deficient in the intelligence department.  But he is rich and insulated from what affects most of us.  Anything that has been done has been done to protect 'their' investments in my opinion and I would much rather have the 16T weight dropped on the lot of them than Raquel Welch, that is for sure.
