Well since I'm new here I thought I'd take my turn to break the ice.   :)

As far as stuff that isn't addressed in the bio or stuff that can use some more personal explanation:

I live in Honolulu on the Island of Oahu and I work for Aloha Aina Mortgage, Inc. as a Loan Consultant.

    Hobbies:

I love sailing, absolutely. I also enjoy horseback riding in Waimanalo and tinkering with engines. I also enjoy running.

    Red or White:

    I don't drink.

    Family:

Well, I have a wife who has her own place at the moment, so……

    Sense of Humor:

Life’s too short. I believe you should never regret anything that you’ve done that made you smile at the moment you did it. Yup, I would even smile while walking in the rain in the middle of nowhere after my car left me stranded.

    Guilty Pleasures:

LOL…well, I guess that would be my WOW account

    Obama or McCain:

Whichever one that did good in economy class.

What DON'T you care about that most others do:

    I don’t know, politics….see above answer.

    TV shows:

It’s really rare that I watch tv.

    Movie:

Hard one, somewhere between LOTR’s, Shriek, and Under the Tuscan Sun.

What would you be doing if not Mortgage/MBS market:

    Insurance

    Ideal Cars for 20, 60, and 100k+:

I ride bikes..yup ask me about nice KZ’s.

    Matt,

Wow that was a lot of information that I really didn't need to know. Austin Powers really? Not caddyshack, flying circus (all seasons), dirty dozen, matrix (replay lobby scene over and over), reservoir dogs, stripes.. I could go on and goldmember doesn't get it. Your neck would have to look like a vagina to like that movie.

And guitar hero, ps3 or 360?

As far as stuff that isn't addressed in the bio or stuff that can use some more personal explanation:

    - I once (unfortunately, once is the operative word) interviewed with Lewis Ranieri. I also worked with Joseph Jett and Kevin Ingram. Google all three of them.

    Hobbies:

        - I love to surf and snowboard and haven't done either since I gained 100 lbs.

     Red or White:

    - Clear...that's water. I packed a lifetime of partying into about 16 years!

    Family:

    - Single and two awesome dogs that have me well trained. Scout and Sheba Maria.

    Sense of Humor:

    -  Bill Maher, John Stewart, Colbert, Brian Regan.

    Guilty Pleasures:

    - pizza. Like Joe Torre once said, "Pizza is a lot like sex. When it's great, it's great. And when it's horrible, it's still great".

    Obama or McCain:

    - First election 1980 John Anderson. Second election Ronnie Reagan then Bush Sr., Bill x 2 , Ralph, Kerry, The BIG O.  I'm here cause it's always good to have an opposing view. Someone has to represent. Ran for County Freeholder as a Green and got over 5,000 votes(out of 120,000).

What DON'T you care about that most others do:

    - Reality TV shows and or contests shows like AI.  I just don't understand.  I'm contemplating adding Facebook to this list.

    TV shows:

    - 24/Deadliest Catch/Daily Show/Colbert/Countdown, Gordon Ramsey stuff, Charlie Rose, History Channel, Discovery channel, Seinfeld reruns.  CNBC's on whenever Erin Burnett or Michelle Lee are on. The other day they were talking about the porn bailout. Suddenly all signs of my ADD disappeared, and then about 2 hours later, I had missed two re-prices.

    Movie:

    - Goodfellas, Dumb and Dumber.

What would you be doing if not Mortgage/MBS market:

    - I don't want to do anything else.

    Ideal Cars for 20, 60, and 100k+:

    - 20: used fx35

    - 60: slightly used or last years CLS 550

    - 100k+: Bentley, just like the Barry.

    2009 has a theme.

    SAVE DAVE.

As far as stuff that isn't addressed in the bio or stuff that can use some more personal explanation:

    - I've lived in Puerto Rico, Texas, NJ, Michigan, Colorado, California (San Diego and now Campbell/San Jose).  Currently living in the Bay Area since 1981.

I had a portrait photography business for about 14 years.  Loved the combination of the artistic with the analytical.  Needed to find another means of supporting my kids when the dot com crash happened (photography is pure discretionary spending), and found mortgage origination.  Prior to photography I had worked in high tech, so the combination of sales, marketing  and people skills developed in my business along with my analytical skills has served me very well.

    Hobbies:

        - Photography, gardening (I'm starting a serious vegie garden this year, compost pile and all), watching my kids play ice hockey

    Red or White:

    - Diet coke - I don't drink.

    Family:

    - Divorced with 2 kids, 15.5 yr old son, 13 yr old daughter

    Sense of Humor:

    - Wicked :-)

    Guilty Pleasures:

    - Trying to explore the entire internet.  There is some really interesting stuff out there!

    Obama or McCain:

    - I'm conservative.  Not sure we really have 2 parties.

What DON'T you care about that most others do:

    - I think the amount of effort people put into maintaining appearances despite reality is pretty sad.

    TV shows:

    - The Amazing Race, Food Network Challenge and Top Chef (I don't like to cook, so it's kind strange that I like those shows), Nova, CNBC (to see what the masses are being influenced by  and for the ticker), Divine Design.

    Movie:

    - I haven't been to a movie for ages.

What would you be doing if not Mortgage/MBS market:

Great question given what this industry has been through over the last 2 + years.  I am interested in helping distressed homeowners out with loan mods etc.  Looking into some offers for "triage" services (mod, short refi, short sale, foreclosure).   sorry - can't get the tool bar to not underline

    - Ideal Cars for 20, 60, and 100k+:

    - Not sure.

Kent, I lived in Saginaw for a year when I was 13.  I think it was the coldest year I have ever experienced.  Great people, though.  Friendliest people of all the places I lived while moving around as a kid.

What a great forum and information. I'm really enjoying reading everyone's bio.

  • Fri, Jan 16 2009 9:39 PM                 In reply to

    OK, I'll bite.

    Something not in my bio:

    - Why does everyone call me 'Hammer'?  Well, I guess cause it fits.  I was given the name many years ago by a Regional Manager in my days as a Branch Manager for Electrolux.  Yup, I used to sell vacuum cleaners door to door, as well as hire and train others to do the same.  Did it so well that I made great $$ and won trips to San Francisco, Las Vegas, Caribbean cruise, and Paris............. He ordained me as such because of my ability to get results along with my "subtle" <snicker> personality.Stick out tongue Besides, what else do you call a 6', 200+ lb biker?

I love to sell.  I call myself a loan originator because that is what I do - I'm a rainmaker, not a CMPS, CMS, POS, or the like.  I think that every transaction should be a win/win.  I hold myself to a high level of integrity, and expect to be treated by my clients with respect (or reverence would be nice! <grin>)

    Hobbies:

        - Basketball, working on my skoot ('03 Harley Ultra Classic), Coaching my kids' soccer/hockey teams, Texas Hold 'em

     Red or White:

    - Water.  Can you imagine adding alchohol to this personality? Wink

    Family:

    - Beautiful wife, wonderful kids - 11yr old daughter, 10yr old son

    Sense of Humor:

    -  Twisted and sometimes misunderstoodDevil

    Guilty Pleasures:

    - I don't think ANY pleasure deserves guilt - I'm a HedonistParadise

    Obama or McCain:

    - I've long since learned to avoid discussing politics, religion, and abortion with 99.876666543899965% of the population

What DON'T you care about that most others do:

    - Being harshly judged by others.  While sometimes mistaken for arrogant, I'm just comfortable and confident.Cool

    TV shows:

    - Boston Legal, NY Giants, NJ Devils, NJ Nets, Football, Hockey, Basketball, History and Discovery

    Movie(s):

    - The Matrix, Shawshank Redemption, Good Fellas (Dave, I guess it's a Joisey thing)

What would you be doing if not Mortgage/MBS market:

    - Well, in the third quarter of 2008 the answer was ANYTHING.  After a December change of scenery, I can say I'm more passionate about my career than ever before, so not much.  If money overflowed from the coffers and I didn't have to work, I'd love to finish watching my kids grow up and travel the world with my wife and my hawg.

    Ideal Cars for 20, 60, and 100k+:

    - 20: (1) Harley Davidson in the stable

    - 60:  (2) Harley Davidson's in the stable, and a Buell

    - 100k+: (2) Harley Davidson's in the stable, a Buell, a Kawie Ninja, and a good life insurance policy

OK..... being the curmudgeonly sort, I don't post too much -- except in response to questions asked in the Wiki Geeked -- but why not.....

Hobbies:  Pool, backgammon, culinaria and culinary history, world history, sailing, yard sale arbitrage, technical analysis of stocks, commodities and securities.

Television:  Family Guy, Two and a Half Men, Law & Order, CSI

Guilty pleasures:  dulce de leche and Haagen Dasz Dulce de Leche Ice cream, a morning at the barber shop for the full treatment (haircut, shave, hot towel, neck massage and manicure)

Obama or McCain:  now that the election's over, the question is moot.  If it matter's, I'm a left leaning independent.

    Don't care much about:  sports.

What I'd be doing if not in mortgages:  teach.

Ideal automobiles:  anything Jaguar or Aston-Martin

Sense of humor:  people tell me that my sense of humor is an acquired taste.  It also happens to be very very dry.... sort of like a vodka martini with no vermouth.
