Barney Frank should be shot in the street dead. Period. Or just excommunicated...

    Watch the video please:

    http://www.poligazette.com/2008/10/21/barney-frank-raise-taxes/

Democratic U.S. Representative Barney Frank explained for CNBC that the next president, Barack Obama of course, will have to spend bigtime on social programs, and he said he believed that increase in spending could be covered partially be raising taxes on later on.

“I think there are some very rich people out there whom we can tax at a point down the road and recover some of this money.”

Democrats are already announcing their plans for the coming years:

    1. “Spread the wealth around”

    2. Increase spending significantly

    3. “Deficit fear” has to take a backseat

    4. Those with higher incomes will be taxes (to death and beyond)

At this moment, it seems that a majority of American voters support such grand plans. Perhaps because increasing the deficit means that their children and grand children will have to suffer, not they. Another reason could be that ’spreading the wealth around’ sounds very good to those who think they will be its beneficiaries. Thirdly, one could argue that conservatives aren’t explaining why fiscal conservatives provides better solutions than fiscal progressivism (or liberalism), as is clearly what Democrats propose.

    He actually says we need:

    *Immediate INCREASE in spending

*Deficit worries take a back seat

*We can recoup money by taxing the rich people more

Are you serious? This is almost the tipping point to where I SERIOUSLY want to move to another country...

This tool is an ELECTED official!??

Politics is a crazy field.  The masses old the power to elect you, but hold very little of the wealth.  The wealthy are few in number but powerful.  The best politicians make the masses feel like their best interests are covered while protecting the wealthy...

Is anyone else familiar with Bob Barr? I know it wont mean much because the media wont follow him but I am voting him for President. If you dont know of him he is a Libertarian and has very solid views of how to ACTUALLY change this country and its problems, especially economic, very similar to Ron Paul, just a little less "wacky".

Yes, less wacky, but wacky just the same.  He was a Congressman from Georgia that was redistricted (is that a word) out of office.  The Libertarian Party helped oust him because he opposed medical marijuana.

He claims to have had a dramatic conversion, his previous positions are far from Libertarian.  He was a congressional leader in the "War on Drugs," wrote and was lead sponsor for the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act, proposed banning the practice of Wicca in the US Military.  This reminds me of the Clinton method of governance.  "Wet right index finger and hold it up in the breeze."

Like most politicians he has some good ideas and some a little wacky.  He is harmless other than any vote for him is a vote for Obama.  Ralph Nader is the only third party candidate with any significance in the national polls.  Nader is at just over 3% and Barr is at 1.5%.  A vote for Nader is a vote for McCain.

I personally like Bob Barr.  He was a House Manager during the Clinton Impeachment.  He also wrote a pretty good book on the whole mess, "The Meaning of Is."

Who was the guy that dressed up in an evening gown?  It really makes you think, doesn't it?  I don't care if the guys shop at Victoria's Secret, but how about some discretion?

This is exactly the reason rich people DO leave this country, along with their money. I know I would.

I'm a Libertarian and very familiar with Bob Barr.

Barr has polarized the Libertarian to a certain extent.  Many do not believe his conversion from neo-con to Libertarian is sincere.  However, I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.   He also got sideways with Ron Paul when Paul would not endorse him, or the party, this election.  Instead, Paul tried to endorse all third party candidates at once.  He finally ended up backing the CP candidate.

As a side note, this is why I don't support Ron Paul.  Paul claims to be a Libertarian, but he runs as a Republican.  That's like being a self-proclaimed Catholic that attends a synogogue.  It just doesn't make sense.

After watching Bob Barr for almost 20 years when I actively involved in politics, I don't think he is sincere either.  I think he's trying to relive his glory years of hangin with Newt and the boys.

    Todd,

RP is the most real Republican you can get. He is a constitutionalist and believe in VERY limited government, If anything, he is a Republican and the party has "lost its way"...most Republicans we have seen in office may cut taxes, but they increase spending.....hence our economy.

I think RP is what the Repblicans should get back to, at least somewhat, maybe not all his ideas, but he would drastically reduce the size of government, which is what those Republicans supposedly believe in.

Also, I think he could have ran in either party, but realistically he is a Republican and wanted to win the major party instead of shooting for the Lib party that never gets ANY press. I talk about Bob Barr all the time, nobody I know even knows who he is.

RP is what the Republican part used to be.  He considers himself a self-avowed Libertarian.  Prior to becoming a Republican, RP was affiliated with the Libertarian party.

If the Republican party could get back to their true constitutionally conservative roots, I would support them 100%.  Until then,  I will find myself voting for Barr this election in order to keep the Libertarian Party on the ballot in NM for future elections.

I agree. I cant bring myself to vote for either McCain or Obama...even though our votes wont put a Barr in office, you gotta vote for who you want regardless....if everyone did that vs the scare tactic that... "a vote for (insert name) is a actually vote for (insert name) crap....so pathetic thats how our system is, so corporate nobody has a shot except one or maybe two canidates.

I really want to write in Romney, but obviously he is not running at this point... you guys think that would be a waste of a vote? I'm teatering on Voting for McCain because I do believe he does want to cut spending, but I just don't see how he will do it. BUT.. a vote for McCain will be one less for Obama, who I have no faith in whatsoever.

    Confused

It seems like that is the case again

My vote would go to Ron Paul if he didn't sound so dumb on some of his other stances. He's one of the few politicians that has a firm grasp on whats happening with our economy. Both McCain and Obama have no real clue in my opinion and simply try to find middle ground between the rich and middle class when discussing the issue. All of the debates were jokes. I would actually have more respect for a candiate who actually had an opinon on something and didn't care what other thought. My grandpa alwasy said you can't bs a bs'er and that's been at the front of my mind everytime I hear one canidiate or the other.
