The final consumer sentiment survey from Reuters and the University of Michigan for December received a slight upward revision from preliminary estimates, pushing the headline index higher to 60.1 compared to the preliminary 59.1 level. In November, the level was 55.3.
Economists were expecting a 58.8 reading.
The consumer outlook component was revised up to 54.0 in December, compared to the preliminary 52.4 level and the November reading of 53.9.
The economic conditions component rose to 69.5 compared to a 69.4 reading in the preliminary estimates and a 57.5 reading in November.
One-year inflation expectations was unrevised at 1.7% while the five-year inflation expectations fell to 2.6% from the 2.7% reported in the preliminary report.
