The weekly ABC News Consumer Confidence Index dropped one point to -51 in the week ending April 12.
"Easing pessimism about the economy's direction hasn't done a thing for ratings of current conditions: They're their lowest in two months and very close to their record low in 23 years of weekly polling," the report read.
The weekly index remains three points above the record low of -54 reached on Jan. 25.
According to the report, 22% of Americans say it is a good time to make purchases, and 46% rate their finances positively. Only 5% of Americans rate the state of the economy as excellent or good.
