I don't hate Barack Obama. What a leap of illogic! You're the one who wrote two letters--both anti-Romney. Look in the mirror for the hate you perceive in others. THEN WRITE RESPONSIBLY!

re: A Letter To Governor Romney Before Next Tuesday's Election

People do actually lose their mind during these elections. We have two guys both father's...husband's....successful and intelligent people. Somehow we devolve into one line zingers about how they are evil and bent on world destruction. Hopefully the winner reads your letter...nice work Frank.

re: A Letter To Governor Romney Before Next Tuesday's Election

Catherine...take a deep breath and read what I wrote. "I am concerned about media reports indicating your administration is targeting the MID for elimination." You say "He did say he would consider eliminating the MID on SECOND HOMES". So you are simply confirming what I wrote (or please show me where in the paragraph I indicate my concern related only to primary residences). Total irrational hatred for one candidate or the other is what is disgusting in this election, and Catherine Coy has added to it.

re: A Letter To Governor Romney Before Next Tuesday's Election

Frank, stop spreading your financial illiteracy on the Mortgage News Daily boards. Governor Romney NEVER said he would eliminate the MID on primary residences. He did say he would consider eliminating the MID on SECOND HOMES. Get it? Second homes--under the premise that if you can afford the freight for a second home, you can afford to pay the mortgage interest without a deduction. For cryin' out loud, are you a member of the media? They're the ones who have been spreading lies and deceit during this election cycle, and now Frank Ceizyk has added to it. Disgusting.

re: A Letter To Governor Romney Before Next Tuesday's Election

Robert, you are 100% correct. Peter, I agree with your assessment - the mtg. interest deduction is NOT the holy grail, and it should be sacrificed in exchange for dramatically simplifying (if not eliminating) the horrific, govt. created tax code that is strangling our countries economic output.

re: A Letter To Governor Romney Before Next Tuesday's Election

Yes, Fannie and Freddie were most definitely at the center of this crisis. You should know that both these government sponsored companies should never have provided or purchased these types of loans. Had they not gave the crisis would have been minute. I think Fannie and Freddie caused the crisis. I have been a Realtor since 1990 and understand exactly what happened.

re: To be Frank: A Letter To Governor Romney Before Next Tuesday's Election

As a long-time veteran of the mortgage industry myself, I would agree with your assessment of eliminating the mortgage interest deduction IF it were a stand-alone proposal. However, to be fair, Governor Romney's plan calls for a reform of the entire tax code from top to bottom. Elimination of the deduction is disasterous in the context of today's draconian code. However, in the context of a much-simplified tax code with lower marginal rates and fewer deductions, it may not be a negative.

On the subject of financial education, you are spot-on. I have been calling for the same thing for some years now. 6 months of basic fiscal literacy education would do more for this country than $6 billion in new bureaucracy over at the CFPB ever could.
