Home-builder shares up; data show more building
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - Shares of home builders rose Friday morning after the government reported that new home construction bounced back in July, led by apartment starts. PulteGroup shares were recently up 4%, leading the S&P 500 . Meanwhile, shares of D.R. Horton were recently up 3%. Exchange-traded funds of home builders also rose Friday morning, with the iShares U.S. Home Construction ETF up 2%, and the SPDR S&P Homebuilders ETF up 1%. The S&P 500 as a whole was slightly down Friday morning.
